When I started as a student at Der Brückenbauer (DB), I had already completed A1–B2 online classes at Goethe-Institut (GI) Manila. However, I still lacked confidence and felt unprepared for the exam. With a deadline approaching, I enrolled in Der Brückenbauer’s B2 course, which follows the TELC framework.

I would like to do an Ausbildung in Germany, so I decided to learn the language. I was looking for language schools that offer online classes and found Der Brückenbauer. I was convinced to join the school after receiving advice from one of the teachers.

I only had an A1 certificate and no A2 certificate, just a little knowledge, but I was able to complete my B1 course with them and eventually obtained my B1 certificate.

I enjoyed my learning journey with them, as the teachers are very professional, fun, and approachable. I believe they have effective teaching styles and methods that help students follow, understand, and improve their critical thinking skills in learning.

With them, you will feel comfortable speaking German, whether you’re good or not. Receiving corrections was never awkward. Moreover, I learned more grammar rules and was able to apply them by sharing my opinion in written and oral exams.

I was an Au Pair and am now doing volunteer work. I decided to learn German because I want to start a life here, step by step. Learning the language is a must.

I chose Der Brückenbauer because a lot of people recommended it to me, so I gave it a shot. At first, I was scared and pressured, but once it started, it was fun and very informative. The teacher has many learning strategies, and they work very well for me personally.

At first, I was not confident speaking because I didn’t have much practice. But step by step, I improved a lot and learned many things from the B1 course up to the exam preparation.

During the B1 course, we practiced model tests with the same format and structure as the real exam, which helped me a lot in my preparation. I also passed the exam on my first try, and I’m very thankful for the support I received.

I completed B1 and B2 with Der Brückenbauer, and it enabled me to pass my B2 exam on my first attempt. Although the course was based on TELC, Sir Kim went out of his way to ensure that I received reviews aligned with Goethe. (The only language institution available in the country where I resided was Goethe, hence the compromise.)

Getting through B1 had its hurdles because that’s when learning the language became more difficult. Miss Anna, most especially, showed us how much she cared about our progress and our possible future in Germany, and the effort we needed to put in to truly succeed on the path we had chosen. Little by little, we showed more progress together as a class, and I became more comfortable speaking German and applying my knowledge through constant practice. It was also a very open community, which made it easier to have fun while learning.

Now that I’m in Germany, I still recall specific things that I was taught in class (e.g., grammar and some colloquial language), which shows the effectiveness of their teaching method.
